Energy efficiency has become a high priority topic in European Union. On 16th December EU issued a directive 2002/91/EC „Energy Efficiency in Buildings. The goal is to shift the weigh of energy savings to end consumers. The directive makes developing a common energy auditing procedure compulsory for each member state and to issue energy certificates to most of the buildings which are heated.
With rising energy prices the energy consumption is becoming more important to know the consumption, when purchasing an apartment. Issuing an energy certificate for a building is easy if an energy audit has been conducted.
Energy Savings Bureau is conducting energy audits which are in accordance with norms issued by the Ministry of Economy, Labour and Entrepreneurship.

Energy audit is a study of your building’s energy using equipment. It can be considered as a means to evaluate the use of energy in a building. Energy auditor uses the technical data, on field measurements and surveillance, questioning of users and past energy consumption to conduct an energy audit. The received data will allow the auditor to perform calculations, based upon which he or she can offer renovation measures in order to reduce energy consumption. The heat losses are calculated for the building envelope and the data compared with the real energy consumption. Energy audit is basically an energy balance for the building, based upon which will be drawn conclusions about energy efficiency measures. ALTERNATIVE RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES:
Renewable energy sources are lower costing energy sources and there are several types. There is biomass energy, solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy, wave energy, and hydroelectric energy. All of these sources are renewable or are available in amounts that cannot be depleted significantly or easily. Each type of energy source has advantages and disadvantages, but fossil fuel energy is responsible for global warming and smog buildup in certain areas that are highly populated so they should be replaced with more earth-friendly, renewable energy sources.
